Evacuation camps have been set up and prepared as the Marikina City local government remains on the alert for the possible effects of the southwest monsoon rains in the city as enhanced by Typhoon BettyPH ManilaBulletin

The Marikina Public Information Office said that camp management teams have been assembled in each evacuation camp around the city. They will lead the distribution of relief goods and equipment to residents who have fled their homes.

Doctors and medical personnel have been assigned to the camps to attend to ailing personnel and evacuees. Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro said emergency responders, boats, and other necessary rescue equipment have been prepositioned and deployed respectively since Thursday, May 25. Electrical teams have also been monitoring and addressing possible causes of power disruptions due to the storm such as low-lying electric cables, faulty lamp posts, and overgrown trees near electrical posts.
