Both sides of the Merseyside could receive a huge boost of financial renumeration if City are found guilty later this year
Both Liverpool and Everton could be set for huge amounts of compensation in the form of Premier League prize money from their rivals Manchester City if the reigning champions are found guilty of breaching the Financial Fair Play regulations.
Pep Guardiola's side were originally thrown out of the Champions League for two years back in 2018 after being found guilty of breaching regulations but that decision was eventually overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport .
However, the long and lengthy process is likely due to both stalling on the side of Man City and the fact there's a lot more to consider around the case as opposed to that of the Toffees. There still could be good news for them though, as there could be a significant amount of prize money that Man City could owe other clubs if found guilty.
By using data from official Premier League sources and news sites, and by removing Man City from the standings and therefore adjusting the position of each club in each given season, new Merit Payments were calculated, with the difference between the original and the adjusted Merit Payment used as the estimation for the amount of compensation each club would receive.
