The Premier League has deducted two points from Everton for breaching financial regulations, following a second breach of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The club plans to appeal the decision.

Everton were deducted 10 points earlier in the campaign, with that punishment reduced to six on appeal. A second PSR breach has now resulted in them having another two points docked, although the club have said they will appeal. The written reasons in Everton’s second case state how the Premier League argued “the Nottingham Forest commission took a slightly different approach, but with ultimately a similar effect”. They add: “By the end of the hearing before us, the PL submitted that the commission should adopt the approach set out in the Everton FY22 Appeal to the extent that the commission in Nottingham Forest departed from that decision.
