Justine Vanhaevermaet joined Everton from Reading in the summer and is confident the Blues have what it takes to turn their season around
When Justine Vanhaevermaet was first approached about a summer move to Everton, she knew it was an offer she couldn't refuse.
And the Blues' frustration was compounded when they were narrowly beaten by Leicester City the following week. But, despite a disappointing run of results, Vanhaevermaet insists the team's faith in Sorensen's project remained unwavering. The Reds had won their opening two games of the season and, with a 23,000-strong crowd behind them at Anfield, looked primed to secure an elusive win against their city rivals. But, after surviving an early Liverpool onslaught, Everton rallied well and secured their first three points of the season thanks to a thumping header from captain Megan Finnigan.
In the WSL, however, no game is without its challenges. It is a testament to the increasing competitiveness of the division but can often lead to the occasional bad day at the office. Certainly, Everton's most recent outing - a 5-0 defeat to Manchester United - falls into that category. "The girls were really welcoming when I first came in. That helps a lot. I feel I come into training every day with a smile on my face. It’s fun to be here. I like it a lot. Liverpool is a nice city as well so I’m enjoying it."
