Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted he is not concerned about the allegations surrounding John Textor’s links to wealthy Russian businessmen., the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested he still believes the American is the “real deal” as he looks to complete an Everton takeover.
But one complication is the 58-year-old’s 45-per-cent stake in Crystal Palace, with Premier League rules forbidding ownership of two clubs in the same division. “He went through a very lengthy explanation of why the allegations are completely wrong. I have got to say, it was very persuasive and I do believe that Textor is still the real deal.
