Boris Becker opens up on prison experience and he confirms inmate wanted to kill him
Discussing his time in HMP Huntercombe with ITV’s This Morning, he said: “The hard part was the three weeks between the verdict and the sentencing. “I still felt there was a 50/50 chance for me to get a suspended sentence, but when you go into that final hearing you have to say goodbye to your loved ones because you go straight from the dock downstairs into the courts, that’s the hard part that no one can prepare you for.
Becker also discussed the dangers of prison life and gave a stern warning to anyone thinking it isn’t difficult. “It’s a day-to-day survival and you have to surround yourself quickly with the strong ones inside because you need protection.” “It’s a different world, you can only share it with other inmates because someone outside wouldn’t believe it, so yes it’s dangerous, you always look around your shoulder and you don’t know who’s next to your cell.“I’m surrounded by murderers, by rapists, by drug dealers, by people smugglers. We’re all inmates, we all share the same canteen, so how do you deal with that? There’s many questions.”him, Becker even managed to crack a joke, saying his public bankruptcy ensured he wasn’t a target.
