The Department for Education (DfE) has finally released a list of all the schools impacted across England

Schools across Greater Manchester have been found to have dangerous crumbling concrete. Headteachers at eight primaries and secondaries in our region have been dealing with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete - RAAC - issues.

Ministers were heavily criticised for the timing of the announcement, which left many schools struggling to make contingency plans and to inform parents they would not be reopening as planned.Sale Grammar School, Trafford Pre-planned building work started at Sale Grammar during the summer holidays in July to replace a section of roofing. The area of the school building concerned was found to feature reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete , said a spokesperson.

All Saints CofE Primary School, Manchester Following an inspection by the DfE, a spokesperson said bosses received guidance on the afternoon of August 31 that they should not use their school hall 'due to the presence of RAAC-type concrete in the roofing'. "With support from the Manchester Diocesan Board of Education and our building consultants, we are already formulating plans to mitigate the risks of the RAAC panels in the hall roof so that the space can be reopened safely, and we are in regular contact with the DfE about our proposals.

"We have acted as quickly as possible in the light of the new regulations, but we were surprised by the notification with days to go before we open to our children. We hope this information is clear and informative and you are assured of your child's safety in school. We will keep you informed of matters throughout this term.St William of York Catholic Primary School, Bolton Headteacher Clare Lightbown has spoken of her 'nightmare' ordeal.
