Curious about the differences between plant-based and animal-based milk? Here are six distinctions you might not know.
The popularity of plant-based milk, often called “vegan milk,” has increased over the past five to ten years as more people embrace plant-based lifestyles.
Animals are bred, reared, and fed to ensure the highest quality and quantity of milk. Sometimes, the milk is pasteurized to kill bacteria. After the plant is harvested, the main ingredient is soaked in water to soften it for blending. The blending process is done with water to create a smooth liquid, and the ratio of ingredients is adjusted according to the final product.Furthermore, certain plant-based milks are pasteurized to extend shelf-life and kill bacteria.
But, excess fat has been linked to cardiovascular issues. Animal-based milk, like cow and goat milk, contains more fat than plant-based alternatives like oat and almond milk.
