Our early Noughties heroine is coming back in 2020. Lizzie McGuire, high school style icon and everywoman of the then-tween generation, is returning to our screens thanks to streaming service Disney Plus. We got a first glimpse at the reboot as part of the channel's 2020 preview, but it was only a tease: a brief clip of Lizzie herself saying, 'Hi, it's me.'The show followed Lizzie, a high school student, and the trials and tribulations of her life.
Lizzie McGuire only aired for two seasons but was a bona fide hit. So much so, that Lizzie received the big screen treatment in 2003, throughIn August, original star Hilary Duff announced that Lizzie was back. 'SURPRISE!!!' she wrote online. 'I’ve been trying to contain this excitement for a loooong time while this has been in the works! I am beyond excited to be home again, back with my girl...and into her 30’s.'Well, you can't reboot Lizzie McGuire without Lizzie.
She's bringing most of the gang with her. In November of 2019, she posted an Instagram picture of herself posing with actor Adam Lamberg, who played her friend .Her parents and brother, Jake, will also be a part of proceedings: Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas were all photographed at a table read last year. Lalaine, who played Lizzie's bezzie Miranda, has not confirmed a return though.Disney + comes to the UK in March 2020.
