Jay Slater has been missing in Tenerife for over two weeks
More than two-and-a-half weeks have passed since 19-year-old Jay Slater disappeared in Tenerife, but his loved ones continue to cling on to the hope of finding him safe.
The group had attended the three-day New Rave Generation festival before Jay headed to an Airbnb in the remote mountainous village of Masca with two new pals he'd met at the event in the early hours of June 17.That morning, Jay spoke with his friend Lucy Mae Law over the phone before his battery died, revealing that he planned on getting back to their accommodation by foot - a trek that would have taken him 11 hours. It was at that point that Jay's phone battery died.
This reassurance comes after army reservist Juan Garcia criticised police for calling off the search too soon, warning that the apprentice bricklayer could be living off plants and rainwater. Search professional Garcia told The Times: "Two weeks is too premature to end the search. could be alive somewhere - someone can drink from rainwater and eat plants. The family should not give up hope.
