A Greater Manchester Police detective has been dismissed after failing a drugs test for cocaine. The former officer, Georgia Curley, resigned before facing disciplinary action, but Chief Constable Stephen Watson ruled she would have been sacked.

Chief Constable Watson said he found breaches of the standards of professional behaviour, namely discreditable conduct and honesty and integrity, were proven and amounted to gross misconduct. Saying the objective of misconduct hearings 'must be to preserve public confidence in the police service', he ordered her name to be added to the College of Policing's Barred List, meaning she can no longer serve in a police force agai
