Eagles offensive lineman Mekhi Becton spoke about his tenure with the Jets Thursday.was supposed to be the cornerstone tackle for the Jets after the team selected him 11th overall in the 2020 draft. However, Becton finds himself as a backup lineman, playing behind tackleswith the Eagles and is competing to be one of the top backup linemen on the roster. Before the Eagles’ final minicamp practice at the NovaCare Complex, Becton spoke Thursday about his four-season tenure with the Jets.
Becton also pointed to Johnson and Mailata as reasons to come to the Eagles, even if the wait was “aggravating,” as he described. When Becton was asked about what lessons he could bring from his time with the Jets, he said, “I’m already having fun in the month or two since I’ve been here. There’s nothing really to bring from over there.”
Part of his redevelopment with Stoutland has been inserting him at guard. He even received first-team reps. Landon Dickerson missed minicamp with an excused absence, meaning Becton had to line up next to Mailata and create a massive 732-pound left side of the line.
