Former Rangers star Scott Arfield is hoping to turn a vacant shop near Ibrox into a pub
. The 34-year-old has submitted a planning application to open a licenced premises on Copland Road - just a five minute walk from the ground he used to play in.
Arfield, who was released from the club in May after playing 144 games, submitted an application to Glasgow City Council on May 17. The plans propose a change of use into a public bar with no cooking facilities. Arfield was one of the five big-named players not to be handed a new contract as Rangers manager Michael Beale is undergoing a major revamp at Ibrox this summer. He had previously stated a desire to play until he is 40 but hasn't found a new club after leaving earlier this year.He explained last month: "I spoke last week.
The midfielder who started his career at Falkirk, played for English sides Huddersfield Town and Burnley before joining the light blues in 2018. He made his debut for the club on July 12 in a Europa League qualification tie against FK Shkupi of Macedonia before appearing in his first league game against Aberdeen on August 5.
