A group of traumatised ex-servicemen using sea-swimming to improve their mental health are unable to swim at their Plymouth beach without contracting stomach bugs due to sewage

During times of heavy rainfall, water companies are permitted to discharge untreated sewage into bodies of water through points known as combined sewer overflows .
