A 'heat bomb' from Turkey is set to sweep into the UK next week, pushing temperatures up to a balmy 27C in some areas
An incoming heatwave from Turkey is set to send UK temperatures soaring, with an anticipated peak of 27C in some regions on Monday .
The heat phenomenon, dubbed a 'heat bomb', is the result of an Azores high-pressure system which is drawing in hot air from Africa into Turkey's southwest. This warm front is now expected to hit the UK early next week, bringing with it a noticeably warmer clime.Forecasts by WXCharts.com indicate that London and other southern parts could bask in highs of 24C by Monday, while the Midlands are set to embrace comparably temperate weather.
Commenting on the forecast, Netweather TV's Jo Farrow said: "A pulse of warmer air could lift temperatures in the south to 26 even 27C on Monday with a mild night to follow. Rain over Ireland on Monday will sweep over Britain during Tuesday and there will be a cool, much fresher midweek for the UK.", reports the Mirror.
The year 2023 was the hottest on record, with Europe enduring its second warmest year due to the continuous rise in greenhouse gases from fossil fuels.
