A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to Earth in its orbit
A rare Super Blue Moon will light up the skies across the UK next week, appearing bigger and brighter than your average full moon. The moon, also known as a Sturgeon Moon in the traditional calendar because it is the time numbers of the fish surge in rivers, will be full just before 7.30pm on Monday, August 19.
A blue moon can be the second full moon in a month or the third full moon in a season that has four full moons. The last Super Blue Moon in the UK was a year ago, on August 31, 2023, reports The Express.
