The energy watchdog has when the one-off cash will start arriving in the bank accounts of pensioners
Ofgem, the official energy watchdog, has outlined when pensioners can anticipate a one-off payment of £150 landing in their bank accounts. The money will automatically be deposited into the accounts of those receiving Pension Credit Guarantee Credit.
According to Ofgem, the funds will begin to appear in accounts in October and continue until March as the Department for Work and Pensions identifies eligible recipients. Those qualifying will be in receipt of Pension Credit - a benefit that provides approximately £3,900 extra to some of the country's poorest individuals and serves as a 'gateway' to numerous other benefits.
Before applying, individuals should have their National Insurance number ready, along with information about any income, savings and investments they possess, as well as details about income, savings and investments on the date they wish to backdate the application to .
