The UK will continue to sizzle this week as temperatures hit 31C - with the hottest day of the year expected on Wednesday, according to the Met Office
As the week progresses, UK temperatures are set to soar, hitting as high as 31C. A yellow heat health alert is in effect throughout most of England, according to the UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office.
Starting on Monday morning and remaining until Thursday afternoon, this alert will span all but the Northeast part of the country. Monday's weather will be mainly dry with a good deal of sunshine and a peak temperature of 28C in store, revealed Liam Eslick, a Met Office meteorologist. By Tuesday, conditions are predicted to become a bit murkier, particularly over western Scotland and Northern Ireland, where cloud coverage appears likely. Northern England could experience a few showers that could develop into thunderstorms; however, expect "more sunshine" elsewhere around the UK, coupled with temperatures floating around mid to high 20s.
The warmest day so far should be Wednesday, blessed with a high of 30C in the southeast, according to Mr Eslick. Yet by Thursday, weather patterns could become less predictable, potentially clouding over with patches of rain spreading across the nation.Despite varying weather conditions, Thursday's temperatures will remain "widely warm", aiming to peak at up to 31C in certain locations.
