The Met Office has issued an outlook for the weekend and into next week with lows of -2C forecast
Snow could call across Lancashire and Cumbria as soon as Sunday, according to predictions made by the Met Office.
The outlook for January 15 to Tuesday , said: "Turning much colder with frosty nights and patchy ice. Sunny spells and blustery showers, these wintry on hills on Sunday but falling as hail or snow to all levels thereafter.According to the Met Office forecast for each day, temperatures are set to drop to 0C on Sunday, -1C on Monday and -2C on Tuesday. On Wednesday temperatures will rise slightly to -1C before reaching 2C by Thursday in Lancashire.
The Met Office's long weather forecast for the UK says: "Tuesday will see a continuation of sunny spells and wintry showers in many central and northern areas, with an area of rain, sleet and snow perhaps affecting some southern Britain for a time... Towards the end of the month and into February, the weather forecasters have said that conditions should become more settled - with spells of strong winds at times.Today: Mostly cloudy with brief sunny intervals and occasional showers. Very windy to start and staying windy throughout the whole day but winds gradually easing later. Feeling chillier than of late. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
