Islanders will be catching the ferry for a long, hot summer
Yep, that's right - the UK's most famous dating show is moving from Majorca to the sunny Isle of Wight, Grazia can exclusively reveal.
It follows I'm A Celebrity, which, following the Covid pandemic, upped sticks from Australia to Gwrych Castle in Wales. After the unexpected success of the move, producers are thought to have been encouraged to bring Love Island closer to home. The most famous event to happen on the island in June is usually the Isle of Wight Festival, but the ITV2 show is about to change just that. And thousands have already applied for the next series, with some contestants already being told they'll be catching a ferry in the hope of a summer of love. There's also whispers that there's going to be a new aftershow for the programme, hosted by local Isle of Wight celebrities Bear Grylls and Alan Titchmarsh.
For those strutting into the villa, a final location for the set hasn't been earmarked just yet, but producers are said to be thinking about Blackgang Chine, the island's famous themepark . 'It's really exciting,' said April First, one of the producers behind the move. 'We can't wait to bring the show over to the UK for its June launch.'
While some islanders are delighted by the decision, some of the contestants already lined up for the show are less-than impressed. One unnamed future islander told Grazia: 'Honestly, no disrespect to the Isle of Wight, but Love Island moving from Majorca like the equivalent of getting through to judges houses on X Factor - only to discover that while everyone else is going to be living it up in Barbados with Simon Cowell, you're going to Ireland with Louis Walsh.
