Mood star Nicôle Lecky reveals the dark inspiration for the show:
Lecky said:"My agent sent out a spec sample of my work to production companies trying to get me a gig in a writer's room, or something.
I was going through reams and reams of these blog posts and stuff, and comments. I was just like,"Oh, God." I met so many women that felt empowered, and made me cry with laughter at the funny – kind of awful, but funny – things they would tell me."That's how I see it. It's like, I want people to make their own opinions up, really. What do they think Sasha should do in those situations? What would they do? And to maybe judge other people a little bit less for some of the choices that they might have to make through a lack of economic security.Well, I love music. I am a big, big music head.
[Sasha] doesn't know how to be seen and that's her challenge. I guess in today's world, she thinks,"If my social media is popping, then I'm popping."You're visible, and your voice is heard. So I think you can see, especially in episode two, when she's talking to Carly you can sort of see the cogs turning. Like,"Well, yes, sex does sell in the music industry, especially. Maybe it's a good idea.""I think it depends on how you use it.
