England is a historically rich country, but how much of your hometown's past do you know?

Many English villages and towns have existed for centuries. In Lancashire , the same can be said, particularly as we boast Britain's oldest shop and like much of the country, evidence of Roman invasion.

The village of Catterall inhabits just short of 3,000 people and is geographically not big at all, but history has proven its weight. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Catrehala, a book of England's landscape that was completed in 1086. There were a few other mentions of the village in documentation over the years that followed, but it was another event that brought the area to everyone's attention many years later. In 1716, on February 14, three local men, Joseph Wadsworth, Thomas Goose of Catterall and Thomas Cartmell of Claughton were executed for joining the Jacobite rebellion of 1715.

Presumably, this has since increased with the building of more homes, estates and amenities. One amenity in the village that time forgot was the railway station. He had been a key player in the Naples’ Camorra Clan and was involved in crimes including attempted murder, mafia association, extortion, drug trafficking, arms trafficking and money laundering. In 2006, a warrant was out for his arrest after the murder of a gangster named Graziano Borelli, but Panzuto had fled the country.
