Exes still living under same roof three years after bitter split as they fight over house

AN ex-couple are stuck still living under the same roof three years after a bitter split as they battle over their £1.5m house.

Kim Springall and property developer ex, Gary Paice, were together for 32 years and had three kids, but never married.Kim Springall says the house was bought and put into her name for securityNeither of them wanted to leave the family home in Purley, Surrey, and both claim they are entitled to it, Miss Springall, 53, says the five-bed house was put in her sole name in lieu of having the "comfort" of a wedding ring. They are embroiled in a court battle as they can't agree on selling it or who should move out.Miss Springall said she "drew a line in the sand" which clearly made the house hers, as a form of security for an unmarried woman."I needed to make sure I could survive on my own and that's why I purchased the property."It was all planned.

The detached home was bought in her name in 2007 for £1.5m, and she told the judge she had made all the repayments herself. But Mr Paice says they followed a pattern they had done previously, by both putting in money to other developments.Barrister, Michael Horton, for Miss Springall, said outside court: "The situation is that neither of them for various reasons wanted to move out after the end of the relationship.
