If you are one of those people that always wants the heating on or is constantly clutching at a hot water bottle, then this explains why

Everyone feels the chill in winter - but there is no doubt that some people seem to struggle to warm up more than others. Some just can't warm up no matter what they do, it seems.

A professor in the department of human physiology at the University of Oregon, Dr Christopher Minson, has a specific area of expertise in thermoregulation – how the brain and body interact and adapt as we heat and cool. And he believes a lack of muscle is why some people are colder than others, according to the Mirror.

"So if your skin temperature is lowered, even though the rest of your body is still at a comfortable set point, you will feel cold — in some cases, cold enough to make behavioural changes like putting on a sweater." So, that's a good explanation for those petty squabbles about women putting their feet on their partner to suck in some much-needed heat. However, there have also been limited reports that women have a higher density of blood vessels at the skin surface, which would make them more sensitive to cold.
