A coin expert has urged people to check their change for a particular £2 coin error wanted by collectors
A coin expert has sent out an alert to Brits advising them to sift through their change, highlighting that any £2 coins with a rare error could be valued at more than £200. The minting blunder of interest is a "rotation error", where part of the design on the coin, such as the monarchy's profile or a motif, is misaligned.
In his message, he pointed out: "Would you pay over £200 for this £2 coin? I'll do my best to explain why it's on the market for that much money." and clarified that it wasn't his own coin on sale but another identical piece. He then explained the typical positioning, "Instead of pointing at three o'clock as she does on all the coins, she's facing the wrong direction. That's known as a rotation error, currently on the market for £225."
