Extinction Rebellion founder Roger Hallam in Parliament square as Just Stop Oil call a day of action on 1 October, 2022 Extinction Rebellion’s founder has been jailed for five years for helping organise a protest that caused gridlock on the M25.
Four other Just Stop Oil protesters, including one of its co-founders, have also been jailed for conspiring to organise protests that blocked the M25. The protests delayed more than 700,000 vehicles, and left the M25 “compromised” for more than 120 hours, the court heard. Ms Ledward told the court that based off “what was said expressly and what could be inferred” they were aiming to recruit others for the protests on the call.
