Health Secretary Wes Streeting has set out details of Labour's NHS reforms

Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Health Secretary Wes Streeting speak with staff at St.

Announcing the measures, Streeting said: “There’ll be no more turning a blind eye to failure. We will drive the health service to improve, so patients get more out of it for what taxpayers put in.” But the NHS has also been warned that it needs to embrace the reforms if it is to receive future funding increases.

He added: “If you want to know where the average taxpayer stands on NHS spending it’s quite straightforward: they welcome the investment, but they worry it won’t be spent wisely. In particular, making progress towards the target of 92 per cent of patients waiting no longer than 18 weeks from referral to treatment is seen as the key result which the NHS will have to meet to convince Reeves and Starmer to unlock more funding.
