'I wouldn't be right happy if I lived over the road and had the misfortune of looking out at that from my window every day'
Unsightly scaffolding preventing a signal box from collapsing onto the train line at Bamber Bridge could be in place for 15 years, rail bosses have admitted.
Flying shore scaffolding, which is erected from temporary access scaffolds built below them and work by exerting thrust on opposite walls, was put in place with rail bosses opting for this type of support because it can remain in situ for up to 15 years.Although rail bosses hope to completely re-signal Bamber Bridge, so that the level crossings are monitored and managed at Preston Railway Station, there are no firm plans in place.
"I wouldn't be right happy if I lived over the road or next to it and had the misfortune of looking out at that from my window every day." "It might not be the most attractive but it's part of our history and it's been there for such a long time. I'd love them to restore it even if the signalling is managed from Preston."
