F1 News: FIA Makes Last-Minute Change to Austrian Grand Prix Track

The FIA and local organizers are implementing gravel traps at the Austrian Grand Prix track to address track limit violations from last year's race.

Ahead of this weekend's Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix, the FIA, in collaboration with local organizers, is set to introduce additional gravel traps at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Spielberg, Austria. This step aims to enhance safety by curbing the unprecedented track limit violations recorded during last year's event, which saw more than 1,200 infringements reported, with 83 confirmed at the circuit's final two corners.

Directly after the race, officials from the track released the following:'Regarding the track limits infringements, we note that due to the specifics of the circuit layout and the propensity of many drivers to repeatedly drive outside of the boundaries of the track, an unprecedented situation arose which resulted in all potential infringements not being able to be reviewed during the race.
