A Coventry City FA Cup match against Ipswich Town descended into chaos due to heavy crowd congestion, leading to a ten-minute delay and thousands of fans missing a crucial goal.

Over 10,000 fans are estimated to have missed a goal due to a ten-minute delay in the FA Cup clash. 'Due to crowd congestion outside the CBS Arena, KO has been delayed until 3:10pm,' a Coventry post on X read. Prior to the match, Coventry anticipated a crowd of 29,000, a figure close to the 32,609 capacity of the Coventry Building Society Arena. However, the Coventry Telegraph reported that approximately 13,000 fans were still waiting to enter as the clock approached 3pm.

Consequently, many would have missed the fast-paced start of the game once it commenced at 3:10pm. George Hirst, playing for the visiting team, capitalized on a penalty opportunity, sending the traveling supporters into a frenzy as he confidently slotted the ball into the net. Hirst further contributed to his team's success by heading the ball past Ipswich debutant Alex Palmer off of Jack Rudoni's corner, equalizing the score. Ipswich regained the lead through Jack Clarke, who skillfully cut in from the left flank and curled a magnificent shot into the bottom corner. Clarke extended Ipswich's advantage when Coventry carelessly gave the ball away near their own goal, allowing Clarke to be played through by Nathan Broadhead. Jaden Philogene, who joined Ipswich from Aston Villa in January for £20 million, added a fourth goal for the visitors. This unfortunate result for Lampard marked his first consecutive losses since taking over at Coventry. Following a 2-1 defeat against Norwich on January 4th, the Sky Blues had enjoyed a five-game winning streak across all competitions. However, this winning run was halted by a 2-0 loss to Leeds on February 5th. The defeat against the Tractor Boys also tied Lampard's heaviest loss during his time at Coventry, equaling the 4-1 loss to Portsmouth on December 21st
