Fabio Paratici’s football ban extended worldwide by FIFA in major setback for Tottenham THFC
Fabio Paratici is set to be forced to step aside as Tottenham’s managing director after FIFA expanded his ban from working in Italian football to a worldwide punishment.
Paritici was one of several members of Juventus’ staff given suspensions after the club were found guilty of false accounting in January.Paratici is appealing his ban from holding office in football but now looks set to have to step down from Spurs roleHe was given a lengthy ban from holding office in his country but FIFA have now since ruled the punishment will be worldwide.
FIFA announced in a statement to the Guardian on Wednesday morning: “FIFA can confirm that following a request by the Italian FA , the chairperson of FIFA disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect.” Juventus were docked 15 points in January after a long-running investigation into the club’s accounting.Paratici was employed by the Turin giants at the time of the investigation as the club’s sporting director and was handed a 30-month ban from working in Italian football.FIFA’s ruling comes as Paritici leads Tottenham’s search for a new manager after the departure of Antonio Conte on Sunday.
