The production rate of goods in the country's factories posted a decrease in growth in June this year after several industries reported reduced output, the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) said.
Based on the preliminary findings of the Monthly Integrated Survey of Selected Industries by the PSA, the volume of production index , which measures the number of goods produced, expanded by a modest 3.4 percent in June.
According to the PSA data, the sluggish growth month-on-month can be attributed to lower production levels reported by 13 different industries. The PSA said the drop in the manufacture of food products was mainly driven by a decrease in the dairy products industry group, which registered a deceleration of 13.3 percent compared to the previous year.
Several sectors experienced declines in production levels, including wearing apparel , furniture , machinery and equipment , tobacco products , leather and related products , and more.
