A young boy was killed Monday when the sled he was riding on with two other children hit a pickup truck that was driving by in a Fairbanks neighborhood, Alaska State Troopers said.

FastCast morning digital headlines for Tuesday, March 5, 2024.FAIRBANKS, Alaska - , but was driving on Deep Freeze Court when the single sled of three children ages 6 through 10 slid from a nearby driveway into the street.

The sled collided with the truck as the driver tried to avoid the kids and “went under the pickup truck,” troopers said. The driver steered the truck into a snowbank but pinned all three kids under the truck. All three children were taken to a Fairbanks hospital, where one 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead. Another kid was medevaced to a Seattle hospital with “serious” injuries, while the third stayed in Fairbanks and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Copyright 2024 KTUU.
