Westminster and Holyrood parliaments are both blamed for keeping councils short of cash
Falkirk candidates in the General Election have been challenged to pledge their support for public services amid a "continued assault on public sector funding".
An SNP spokesperson said: “Decisions taken in Westminster over the past 15 years have had a lasting impact on local service delivery in Falkirk and across Scotland. "Without a credible plan to reverse Westminster spending cuts and properly fund public services across the UK, the problems we face now will only get worse."
He said: "I utterly reject austerity. This Tory ideology, which is crippling our public services and wrecking our economy, will end under a UK Labour government. "Or was this written by Falkirk Council's SNP administration who have still failed to clarify their position on the proposed cuts to the school week which Falkirk Labour clearly oppose, the same group who have failed to act for decades as their SNP government passes Tory cuts disproportionately onto council services.
Conservative candidate James Bundy, a councillor for Falkirk North, says people are fed up with the "blame game".
