Two schoolgirls mistakenly thought they were about to be the victims of another abduction attempt in Melbourne , sparking a police report and panic across their school community. Families across the city have been on edge following a series of attempted abduction incidents over the past month.

New white van abduction scare has families on edge in Melbourne’s east Since late November, four children aged between 10 and 15 were targeted by men driving white vans in the suburbs of Tullamarine, Blackburn, Doncaster and Boronia. There was also a reported incident in Geelong last week involving a teenager waiting for an Uber ride outside a Lovely Banks home, according to the Geelong Advertiser.

The students can be seen dropping their school bags and running off, before the van reverses and pulls into a driveway and drops something off at a home. Parents in the local community said the spate of incidents over the past month was “very scary and worrying”. “You can’t trust the kids to walk home safely,” one mother told 7NEWS. Another said: “It’s obviously a bit concerning”.
