The families of three children murdered by Axel Rudakubana in Southport, England, expressed shock at the 'missed opportunities' to prevent the tragedy. Solicitor Sara Stranger said the parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King, and Alice da Silva Aguiar were relieved the criminal case was over, but concerned about Rudakubana 'falling through gaps' between agencies that could have identified the danger he posed. Rudakubana, 18, was jailed for 52 years after pleading guilty to murdering the girls and attempting to kill eight other children and two adults. He had multiple referrals to the government's anti-radicalisation programme Prevent.

Sara Stranger told BBC Breakfast the parents of Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, Bebe King, six, and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar were "relieved" that the criminal case was over and glad that a public inquiry would be held.
