Rochester, N.Y. — A memorial event was held in memory of a young man who was killed in a random drive-by-shooting in 2020.
The family and friends gathered to raise funds for criminal justice scholarships in memory of Dakota “Cody” Podlaski, Sunday, June 23, 2024. Cody’s family tells us it has always been his dream to be a police officer, and now they are helping others reach that goal. The family and friends gathered to raise funds for criminal justice scholarships in memory of Dakota “Cody” Podlaski. Cody’s family tells us it has always been his dream to be a police officer, and now they are helping others reach that goal. “The people that we’ve given these scholarships to went on to become police officers in their right, and it’s just been a phenomenal outpouring of support that we’ve been trying to give back to the community,” said Robert Podlaski, Cody’s father. “The events surrounding his death, we just needed some way of remembering him, and this is our way of remembering him.”
