Family ‘devastated’ after ‘precious’ dachshund and its six puppies stolen as grandkids offer Christmas toys as rewardA DOG owner has been left devastated after his dachshund and her litter of six puppies were stolen from his home.
“Not only has she stolen along with her beautiful babies, she has been through an ordeal in terms of having a c-section and she had also been spade, so for her to be away from us and the family must be horrific for her.“They are even asking us if they can give up all their toys what they got for Christmas and their pocket money so that the bad people will give us our doggies back.”
Under the Theft Act 1968, dogs are legally seen as inanimate objects when they are stolen. This means that stolen pets come under offences like burglary or theft from a person. Research published earlier this year by Daniel Allen, a Human Geography lecturer at Keele University, gathered data from 39 of the 44 police forces in England and Wales, and found that recorded dog theft crimes rose nearly 20 per cent between 2015 and 2018.
