” According to Stephanie Mendoza’s family and friends and court records, there was an incident between Stephanie Mendoza and her estranged husband about one month before she was killed. On July 10, Stephanie Mendoza returned to their home on Division to pick up some of her clothes. She and her husband began arguing and he pulled out a handgun, threatening to kill himself. He held the gun close to Stephanie Mendoza’s head, according to an arrest affidavit. Then, he threatened to kill her.
