Nineteen-year-old Kian Hoey was attacked from behind by rival fans after watching the Manchester United Champions League game in a bar in Turkey.
A Man United fan says he's lucky to be alive after a 'rival footy fan spotted his Red Devil tattoo and attacked him' on a Turkish family holiday - leaving him with a broken jaw. Kian Hoey claims he was punched by a bloke in Marmaris, Turkey, in the early hours of the morning after going for drinks with pals.
The nuclear power plant security worker says one man approached him from behind and punched him with such force that he broke his jaw on both sides and suffered cracked teeth. Shocking photos show Kian in hospital on October 5 after undergoing a gruelling five-and-a-half-hour op to fix his jaw. "I remember talking to them about the game and even saying 'it was a good game you were the better side' but as we were walking away we were attacked from behind. I believe I’m lucky I didn’t go down from the punch or I wouldn’t be here right now.
"When we saw him in the hotel room after the attack there was blood all over him, on the bedsheets and all over the towels in the bathroom. The attack has scared him, it could have been a lot worse. Brenda said: "The surgery was five-and-a-half hours long. They let me walk as far as I could on the trolley. Before he went into surgery I told him I loved him and I would see him soon. I was a nervous wreck waiting for him to come out of surgery.
