The family of 53-year-old Frank Tyson, who died while in Canton Police custody on April 18, will be part of a news conference at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the St. Paul AME Church in Canton.
CANTON, Ohio -
On Wednesday night, Pastor Eric Howard led the Canton community in prayer and then held a Town Hall at his church, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. In video provided to 19 News, Canton officers approach Tyson, who allegedly hit a pole with his car and then went inside the AMVETS Post 124 on Sherrick Road. When people at the establishment said he refused to leave they called police.
When officers turned him over it was clear something was wrong and the officers administered life-saving measures. Tyson was transported to the hospital but was unresponsive and later died.
