Justin McLaughlin tragically died at the age of 14 after being stabbed in the heart at Glasgow's High Street railway station
The heartbroken family of murdered schoolboy Justin McLaughlin have demanded action to tackle youth violence before another child is killed.
Justin had travelled into Glasgow with pals on October 16 2021 on the day of his murder. He had returned to the station where Haig - who he had never met before - was waiting with a friend.A remark was shouted towards the pair about the area in Glasgow they were from and Haig, who was armed with a knife, ran at the group and a fight broke out.
Maggie believes if more safe spaces were available to give young people places to take part in activities Justin’s death could have been avoided.She has thrown her support behind the Record’s Our Kids, Our Future campaign, and hopes £2m of funding pledged by First Minister Humza Yousaf can prevent other families from suffering the consequences of youth violence.
The McLaughlin family are now planning to set up a charity in Justin’s name in a bid to educate teens on the dangers of knife crime.
