The family of a teenage girl raped and murdered almost 42 years ago have blocked a request for her remains to be exhumed.
Raymond Gilmour, then 19, who lived nearby, was tried and convicted of the murder in 1982. But appeal judges later accepted expert evidence that he was bullied into making a confession by detectives.The Record revealed in March that the Crown Office’s cold case team, driven by Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC and forensic science experts, decided the exhumation of Pamela’s remains might provide new evidence as samples from her body hadn’t been taken or stored.
