After losing their mother to a cardiac arrest in 2018, Adam Fraser and his family are determined to prevent others from experiencing similar heartbreak. They raised funds for three defibrillators in Thatto Heath and are now campaigning for another one outside their local Spar store.

When Adam Fraser's mother passed away in October 2018, his life was forever changed. The family had been planning a day trip to Liverpool for shopping and sightseeing. Adam was already at the train station waiting for his parents when his sister called with devastating news. His mother, Linda Fraser, had collapsed at Thatto Heath railway station near St Helens, Merseyside. Linda's husband, Adam's father, was performing CPR until the ambulance arrived.

It took 25 minutes for the paramedics to reach the scene, and Linda was then taken to the hospital, where she spent eight days in intensive care before passing away. Adam and his family were at the hospital for 10 to 12 hours a day, supporting Linda during her treatment. On the sixth day, they were informed by the doctors that there was nothing more they could do. They were told that Linda would likely pass away soon. So, they decided to take turns staying at the hospital, with Adam returning to their home in Chorley. The following morning, they received a call informing them that Linda had passed away. Although the family was aware that there was no guarantee Linda would have survived even with access to a defibrillator – the nearest one was inside a closed library – they were determined to prevent another family from experiencing a similar loss. They decided to raise funds for defibrillators in the area. Through various events, including fundraisers and raffles, they managed to raise enough money to purchase three defibrillators for Thatto Heath. These were placed at the railway station, facilitated by rail operator Northern, the local church where Linda was buried, and a nearby pub, ensuring easy access to the life-saving equipment. The family was overjoyed when they learned that one of the defibrillators had been used just eight days after its installation at the train station, saving the life of a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest. Witnessing the positive impact of their efforts brought immense comfort to them. Adam and his wife, Jo, later moved to Higher Walton, near Preston, where Adam found a job at a Spar store in Lostock Hall. He noticed that there were no defibrillators in the immediate vicinity, with the closest one located 10 minutes away. Determined to make a difference, Adam dedicated himself to raising funds for a defibrillator to be installed outside his workplace, the Spar petrol station on Brownedge Road. To achieve this goal, he organized a raffle in-store from February 6-8, with all proceeds going towards the purchase of the defibrillator. Additionally, he set up a GoFundMe page to receive direct donations from individuals who wanted to support his cause
