A SHAKEN mother has described the horrifying moment her BMW exploded into flames on a dual carriageway with her baby and toddler sat in the back.
"If BMW knew there was a problem and sat on it – and this caused the fire – it has put our lives at risk."She first noticed a problem when the car began to slow down and stopped responding to her pressing on the accelerator.It was terrifying. The only thing on my mind when the car started smoking was the kids, and getting them out and away from the car.Sara and Stuart leapt from the vehicle in a panic after she managed to steer it to the side of the road.
PR worker Sara added: "We were lucky we were on a dual carriageway. I dread to think what would have happened if we had had to get two children out of the car and across a motorway.We were concerned to hear about what happened to Mr Longley and our customer service team has been in close contact.It is thought the car was affected by a potentially lethal fault with the exhaust cooler system near the engine.
It was just over a week later that the car, which had a full service history at their local BMW garage in Stanstead, Essex, caught fire as they drove to visit family in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
