After buying their black labrador puppy Maya off Gumtree for £500, Sophie and Paul McDonnell have now shared the 'heartbreaking' news that their adorable pooch will need two full hip replacements before March.
A family say they feel ‘tricked’ after buying a dog for £500 on Gumtree, only for it to need £14,000 worth of surgery.
Sophie said: ‘It’s heartbreaking. She’s such a loving and fun dog. It’s horrible to see her in so much pain. ‘That leads to arthritis, and her quality of life could become so poor we’d have to have her put down.’
