Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz were in doubles action at the Paris Olympics.
Although there was no play on the outside courts, the two main stadiums had the roofs closed as the likes of Novak Djokovic , Iga Swiatek and home favourite Caroline Garcia were all in action.In front of a jubilant crowd inside the Court Philippe-Chatrier, Nadal and Alcaraz managed to seal a place in the next round after winning 7-6, 6-4 against Argentina pair Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzalez.
Nadal played a key role in Friday night’s opening ceremony after he was handed the Olympic Flame by French football legend Zinedine Zidane. The tennis great was then joined by the likes of Serena Williams, Carl Lewis and Nadia Comaneci as they sailed down the River Seine before handing the flame over to Amelie Mauresmo.
