Deadline set for Limavady United to show issue has been resolved
Fans of Limavady United and Glenavon are hoping for some clarity as to where and when their postponed League Cup tie will be played.
The game at Limavady Showgrounds was called off at the eleventh hour on Tuesday evening due to floodlight failure. Glenavon revealed on Thursday that correspondence they have received from the Northern Ireland Football League confirmed the Roesiders will host the rearranged fixture provided they submit an electrical/floodlight report which clearly demonstrates that the issue has been resolved and floodlights are working at appropriate levels by Friday 10 November. If the Premier Intermediate League side fails to fulfil this requirement the tie will be switched to Mourneview Park on a date yet to be arranged.
Players, staff and supporters of the Lurgan Blues had already made the long journey to the north west when the floodlights failed before kick off. Glenavon boss Stephen McDonnell and his assistant Simon Kelly ended up making a 220-mile round trip with fans also travelling considerable distances as well without seeing a ball being kicked.“The events of Tuesday night were very frustrating, particularly for the Glenavon fans who went to a lot of expense and inconvenience to be in Limavady for a 7.45 pm kick-off to support the team,” Teer told the club website.
