The Fantastic Four has always been Marvel Comics’ premier superhero team since their introduction, but it’s also fair to say that they haven’t always been the most powerful, especially when considering the god-tier heavy-hitters the Avengers have recruited over the years.
This power-combo was incredible to witness, but interestingly enough, this wasn’t the point at which Sue and Johnny pushed themselves beyond what they thought was possible, as that happened during the first asteroid strike, before the idea of the laser came to them. Then, when the entire perimeter of the force-field was set ablaze following the impact, the Human Torch absorbed the flames and then shot them back out into space. The narration of this comic reveals that Johnny had never channeled this much energy all at once before, yet fans can clearly see that he did so with relative ease, and was ready to stand against countless more asteroids immediately afterward.
The Human Torch grabbed Annihilus by his throat and slammed him into building after building on Spyre the very instant he arrived at the conflict. Johnny then ripped the Cosmic Control Rod from Annihilus’ grasp, and forced the once-great conqueror to beg him for mercy. Johnny Storm effectively took down a cosmic villain single-handedly, and more than that, he embarrassed him, which is easily one of his most impressive feats to date.
