The Number Thirty Three in Farsley, West Yorkshire, has been allowed to stay open later despite objections from nearby residents concerned about noise and disturbances.

A pub that sparked controversy within the local community over allegations of disturbances and noise complaints has been granted permission to extend its operating hours. However, the Number Thirty Three, located in Town Street, Farsley , must adhere to a strict set of rules to maintain its extended license. The pub was given approval to remain open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, with alcohol service permitted until 1.30am.

This decision came despite objections from 40 residents residing in nearby sheltered housing, Marsden Court, who voiced concerns about the potential for increased noise and disorder. These residents, situated a few hundred yards from the pub, cited issues ranging from fighting and screaming to slamming car doors and excessive music volume. While West Yorkshire Police initially expressed concerns, they later withdrew their opposition, proposing a set of conditions for the extended operating hours. Following a licensing hearing held on Tuesday, January 14, the Licensing Sub Committee of Leeds City Council reached a final agreement with the pub's owners and the police. The Number Thirty Three is now prohibited from hosting live music during the extended hours, and must establish a dedicated telephone number or email address for residents to report any concerns during operating hours. Additionally, the pub is required to maintain a detailed log of all complaints received. A spokesperson for Leeds City Council stated that the application was approved contingent upon the removal of the proposed live music extension and the implementation of crime prevention measures agreed upon with West Yorkshire Police. The spokesperson also emphasized that the meeting minutes, outlining the reasons behind the decision, would be accessible on the council's website within a few days.
